“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not
exist in nature, nor do
the children of men as a whole experience it.
Avoiding danger is no
safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life
is either a daring adventure or nothing.” – Helen Keller.
While waiting for my partner at Starbucks last Sunday morning, I had a Caramel Macchiato. Shortly, I saw four young men walked in and sat at the next table. I noticed none of them spoke to each other but were busy fiddling with their iPads and iPhones. Then, my partner, Jim, arrived and he had a Caramel Macchiato as well.
“I notice you’re feeling good this morning,” as I greeted him.
“Indeed, I’m. Don’t you agree that feeling good sets in motion a series of tumblers that’ll unlock some amazing doors? ………… I believe people who feel positively think differently. They think better.” Jim replied enthusiastically.
And continued, “Feeling good helps you think more creatively. You become better at problem solving,” as he smiled broadly.
“In fact, studies had revealed that happy people were better at engaging their imagination and less constrained by assumption,” I added.
“And, such positive emotions propel people to be more helpful to others,” Jim said as he finished he large Caramel Macchiato.
“It’s certainly true Jim …………….. since helping someone else make people feel good about what they’ve done, the positive feelings continue and even amplify, creating more good feelings” as I finished my drink and was ready to chill out elsewhere with Jim.
Life is just too short to stay negative and depressed. Why not look out for ways to help people instead? Those who are in positive feeling state rate people more positively. So up your game and try a little kindness ……… you may reap a fortune by making it a point to make others in your world feel good.
If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and stay you’re going the wrong way
You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you’ll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow minded streets
Don’t walk around the down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Will help someone along the way
