Have A Dream

Seize The Moment.

Don’t put off being happy until you accomplish your dreams or until you reach your goals ……..

You see, whether we are close to accomplishing our dreams, reaching our goals or perhaps far from it, we can still be happy. As a matter of fact, we can be happy every day provided we are living our values – the principles and states that we hold in our highest esteem. So don’t put off being happy until you accomplish your dreams or until you reach your goals.

I have been thinking of a story my Uncle told me when we went fishing many years ago. This story happened right after a devastating tsunami hit a small town. The situation was worsened by the rain, raining non-stop for a few days. Consequently, hundreds of houses in the town were swept away and the rest badly damaged. Countless lives were also unaccounted for.

As the water kept rising, Lucy, a young lady climbed to the roof of her house to avoid being swept away by the strong current. Once up there, Lucy was badly shaken by what she saw. She immediately went down on her knees, prayed to God and asked to be saved.

After a while, Lucy spotted a boat. Thinking that God will save her, she waved at them and told them, “Go ……, go ……, go elsewhere and help. I am doing fine.” On hearing this, the boat turned away and went off.

Not too long, a helicopter passed by and noticed her. The helicopter tried to save her. Again, Lucy waved at them and told them to go elsewhere to help. After some persuasion, the helicopter finally left the vicinity. Soon it was nightfall. The water was rising and finally took away the life of young Lucy.

One day in heaven, Lucy met God. She asked; “God, I asked you to save me. Why am I here?” God paused for a moment as if to recollect what transpired then replied; “My child, I did. I sent you a boat. Then, a helicopter. But, you asked them to go.” Lucy, “But, ………”

Seize the moment. Seize the opportunity. We should not limit our happiness. You don’t have to put off your happiness until you accomplish your dreams or reach your goals, do you? Stay alert with who or what is lifting you up and with who or what is pulling you down. The truth is, our happiness is founded in our own personal value system. And, “values” are what gives meaning to our lives. Be mindful ……

“No matter what your past has been,
Trust God to understand.
And no matter what your problem is
Just place it in His hand –
For in all of our unloveliness,
This great God loves us still
He loved us since the world began
And what’s more, He always will.”

As I complete my tour of duty for the day, perhaps, Stellar Terrill Mann’s; “Whatever God’s dream about man may be, it seems certain it cannot come true unless man co-operates.” will communicate well and serve to remind us wherever we are and whenever we need some lifting up or hard thinking.

Enjoy your weekend and seize the moment to be happy !!!

Exactly. Because happiness is something you are, not what you have earned or are entitled to be. That’s why we say be happy.

Great post, it’s so easy to get weighed down by negative thoughts and think that if certain things happen then I’ll be happy but it really is just a state of mind that we can have if we adopt the right attitude. Thanx

I agree it is easy to get weighed down with negative thoughts my friend. Being happy brings us feel good feelings. Then, a belief. But, that is not enough because your behaviour matters !!!

  6. Another spot on blog. I am personal trainer and I include stress management and relaxation. I teach seizing the moment to every student. This is all we have is a life, moment by moment. Thanks Michael!

Your title was a happy trick, in which I was nicely trapped in! First I read it as “Don’t be happy until you succeed,” I said “Indeed, I’ll not,” and at the second glance…”Aha, I will never PUT OFF to be!”

Great post! Reminded me of a TEDtalk you might enjoy. Shawn Achor talks about how happiness leads to success and not the other way around: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLJsdqxnZb0

Thanks Buddy. Sometimes, thinking is like driving. You may like to focus – concentrate on a thought. Or shift your focus to look for the things that captures your attention. Once you get it, remember to seize the moment. Warmest wishes and God Bless.
