Give A Thought ……

“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them and try to follow where they lead.” – Louisa May Alcott.

Some of us seem to have a love-hate relationship with goals. On one hand, we love them because goals are such great ideas that motivate and inspire us to achieve. But hate them on the other hand because for many, they go unattainable and simply frustrate them.

The crux of the matter is, as human beings, we have an innate and sometimes an unstoppable desire to dream. Say, to dream of a better situation, a better quality of life, a better financial position for ourselves, our loved ones and so forth. Besides, what is even more powerful is we have the ability to not only pursue our dreams, but also the ability to plan and map out strategies to achieve our dreams.

Then, why is it such good intentions aren’t always translated into action? Indeed, many of us know we ought to set goals but we don’t for a variety of reasons. A common excuse that comes up frequently is we don’t know what to set goals about. You see, we set goals because we understand how much focusing on our personal development and personal success can improve the many aspects in our life.

Give a thought …… What are your dreams and goals? What is it that you want? Have you really sat down and thought through your life’s values and decide what you really want? Or, have you taken the time to reflect and listen quietly to your heart and to see what dreams live within you?

Give a thought …… Like everyone else, your dreams are there. They may live right on the surface or buried deep down somewhere, after so many of others telling you they were foolish …… but they are there and are still there.

Give a thought …… Quiet the mind and visualize; “You are now in a better situation, living a much better quality of life, in a sound financial position to provide for the comfort of your loved ones though once you thought were almost impossible.” Does this inspire and worthy of another attempt to translate all your good intentions into action?

Give a thought …… Β It is about setting the right goals. I mean, setting goals that mean something to you and that are in alignment with your values.Β Right goals will motivate and empower you. Nothing is too large or too small. A small thing can sometimes be the trigger that leads to the fulfillment of a much bigger goal. Dream big. Don’t limit yourself. Forget about being realistic at this point – after all, who wants to be realistic and set goals that are easily achievable?

My parting thought; “If you don’t have a goal in life, you are spending your life running around and not achieving anything for yourself.” – Bill Copeland.

Once again, “Thank You” for visiting “Have A Dream.” Have a great new week and Give A Thought. !!!

It is always fun to visit your webpage and read your writing, even though I do not always agree with what you say.
I believe that dreams and goals can be a hindrance. Yet I dream of peace in the world, I do know that I cannot change other than myself so my contribution would be to live in peace, or rather be peace.
I have no goals, goals entail a change from what is based on what we wish could be and we know, after all, that what was and what could be do not exist so it is of no use. When we want to change something it is because we are discontent and to be discontent is not peace.
We have the moment, and I will do my best to live and accept it for what it is and brings with it. It is not necessary to do anything with it, be unhappy or happy, to be peace is quite enough.
But I am also old enough to know that everyone has to live his life in harmony with himself and those who believe that dreams and goals are necessary must be allowed to do so without interference from others.

I believe and agree that dreams and goals are necessary. It’s what motivates us, gives us hope, vision, direction and purpose. Change is inevitable and things may not always go according to our plans. But it’s what makes us grow and may not necessarily be a bad thing. And sometimes it’s what is needed to propel us forward to the next best thing. Life would be stagnant and empty without change, dreams and goals.

Welcome back Nat. Thanks for the voice. I am sorry for the delay in having your comment online. This is because unlike other comments, I was not notified this time. You see, they choose to ignore and label it differently. This was not highlighted in any of my mobile devices. Thus, I only noticed it when I reached for my notebook and went to “Dashboard.” Besides, I remember subscribing to your posts by email a long time ago. Remember I even asked if you have an email widget? And I have to do that again very recently. Not sure what is happening. Keep excelling and looking to hearing more from your goodself in 2013. Regards and best wishes !!!

I like this. Thanks for the quotes, too. I have to go and copy the one by Bill Copeland!

  9. Goals… I always have some of them, because it’s so true that they are a means of motivation and of direction in life. Sometimes the hardest question to answer though is ‘what do you really want?’.
Great post! And I love the quote you used at the beginning πŸ™‚

God Bless you Michael…I have goals set for me to acheive. I started my own small business at home, it is slow at this season but that doesn’t meant its over. My other goal is one day to put my “It’s My Journey With Jesus” into a book, and I have others goals as well. Yes you will have others that will think what you doing is crazy. But you have to not listen so hard to the negative that comes one’s ways, and listen to more of the positive. It’s my dreams, and goals not theirs. Thank you for sharing this message. Agape! πŸ™‚

  11. Hola Michael,I really love your blog, your words somehow always fit in my day by day life…..thank you! Have a good week!

Motivating! Thanks. Actually I started re-thinking and re-writing my goals late last night.

  13. Goals mean a chance to grow. Small, big, doesn’t matter it gives us a chance to reach past what we know and learn more. As it has been said, if we are not growing we are dying. So bring on the goals πŸ™‚ Great post.

    Peace & Light

‘If you don’t have a dream.
How you gonna make a dream come true?’

  15. Yeah, I’m one of those highly motivated people – I think it’s just innate to my personality, lo these almost sixty years. I love deadlines, they ratchet the challege up a notch and I do well with them. But not all of us are alike, or it would be a very boring world.
You’d make a great motivational speaker, Michael! πŸ˜‰ Cheers.

  16. Good post. Thoughts are the rehearsals for life and if we keep them good – they are important in determining our lives. We pull the positive towards us in thought, and also the negative. I think when I stop dreaming will be upon my transition to the sleep awaiting eternity. My daughter’s friend says, “Create a beautiful day”…bless you Michael.

  17. You constantly stir inspiration in my chest. I am so glad to know your blog πŸ™‚
